About Us

As a ministry, we seek to be very intentional about how we address the complex realities of gender and sexual identity - and particularly how these realities intersect with the Christian faith.  We are committed to keep learning, growing and discerning how to be distinctly Christ-centered and engage in authentic, relational ministry.    (We're on a journey too!)

Here's a brief run down of what our ministry is all about:

We are pastorally focused - not politically-driven.

At New Direction, we're focused on touching real people's lives.  So our focus is the pastoral care of people not the political debates of our day.

We are relationally focused  - not program driven.

At New Direction, we believe every person's journey is unique and only through relationship can we understand and be supportive of each other.  

We are discipleship focused  - not change-driven.

At New Direction, we're interested in encouraging people in their walk with Christ.  So regardless of the direction of a person's sexual attractions, we will always focus on their growth in trusting and obeying God as part of the discipleship process.

We are partnership focused - not empire driven.

At New Direction, we're convinced that God blesses those who work together.  So we are focused on working with others so that those outside the heterosexual mainstream can find a safe and hospitable place to be real and honest and find the support and encouragement they need.
